FRANKS CAFE a campari bar based on the 10th floor of a multi storey car park is probably the one and only reason why I love Peckham. Named after my mate Frank Boxer, this cafe/campari bar/art instalation/the best place to top up your tan this side of London, encapsulates just what is so cool and creative about the dirty south.
Franks is part of the Bold Tendencies Sculpture Project which is supported by Southwark council, Campari, Hannah Barry Gallery and is all about celebrating creativity in the public realm. Last year the project commissioned 14 works by new artists and had over 30,000 visitors in the three months it was open. Unlike the whole pop up trend whereby something just opens up and then closes down leaving a trail of disappointment this is more like a flash sale, it opens with a bang everyone gets excited and then leaves you begging for more like a half finished kiss with Johnny Depp.
So if you fancy a reason to go down to Peckham and hang out in a car park, other than dogging or selling drugs then this is definately it. You can grab a bite to eat check out some art and even have a cocktail what more could you want really.
Frank’s cafe opened on July 2nd and is open for a limited time only. Thursday to Sunday 11am to 10 pm. 10th Floor, Peckham Multi-Story Carpark 95a Rye Lane, London SE15 4ST
