Gainsbourg is god, was the slogan used by Bella Freud on her iconic jumpers made popular by the likes of Kate Moss and Laura Bailey. Well this year the late French singer Serge Gainsbourg is being celebrated again in the new biopic about his life, loves and woes.

Directed by Joann Sfar, the new film debuts on 30th July and although it has been slightly critiqued for the directors bias and slightly untrue dipiction of Gainsbourg’s life it has definately got the french sex appeal which is enough for me to sit through 60 minutes of darkness. The gorgeous Laetitia Casta plays Bridget Bardout and Lucy Gordon plays style icon Jane Birkin, so as films go this is definitely one for the ladies who love style - I’ve already booked my tickets at the Electric Cinema.
